While I was a little disappointed to see that this issue was forced to a vote instead of simply passing through City Council, I can see that it’s good for the democratic process, and after all, it is going to add about $3.50 to our utility bills. This November, residents of the City of Vermillion will have the opportunity to vote on a new curbside recycling program.
I want to encourage all my readers to vote YES on this issue–Ordinance 1184. A couple bucks is a small price to pay for a great program that will provide more jobs (perhaps as many as 36), allow us to extend the life of our landfill, and likely to save the city money.
This program will also save trips to the Recycling Center and the bins at Jones’–though I assume most people who use those bins just combine their drop-off with a grocery run.
Please vote “yes” on Ordinance 1184 in the November 4 election.
