Yeah, I know that sounds like a joke, but I’m processing pears to calm my election-day jitters, and in order to do the pears in almond liqueur, a melon baller would be most helpful to neatly core the pear halves. It seems like a silly thing to purchase new–how often does one have need of such a utensil?
Right now I’m cooking down the less-than-perfect pear specimens to do a pear butter, and I’ve set aside maybe ten pounds of good ones for the pear halves. I’m also grading midterms and listening to election coverage on the radio.
I’m trying not to obsess about election results that won’t be coming for quite some time (maybe almond liqueur will help?). Maybe going for a walk down to the Civic Council will yield both a positive distraction from the election and the melon baller I need….
