New Year's Day Breakfast

We had a wonderful get-together with friends last night–a blazing fire, good food, and great conversation.

Opened the front door at midnight to ring in the New Year with an old handbell I’ve had for about a quarter-century, and saw a couple of streakers running down the block (well, they were wearing their skivvies and big funny hats–cheaters!).

This morning, after washing dishes and clearing the party detritus, I used some of the leftovers for New Years Day omelets.


They were filled with pickled sweet peppers and a couple plump oil-cured olives, plus some crumbled bacon and melted cheese.  I served them with a Mr. Smith’s focaccia sliced horizontally into four pieces (two for me, 2 for H.) and toasted lightly.

Local ingredients: eggs, cream, sweet peppers.  Bread made locally, but probably not with local ingredients.
