According to information from the state level sent yesterday and shared on the Dakota Rural Action list serve, there is no application deadline set for South Dakota as yet on the USDA-NRCS High Tunnel pilot project. The deadline is anticipated to be in late January or early February.
NRCS field office staff will be getting the details about the program in the coming weeks, so growers who are interested in the program should get in touch or continue to work with their local NRCS offices to obtain program specifics.
The USDA NRCS and EQIP programs will be providing funding for one high tunnel per farm throughout a thirty-eight state region as part of a three year study to determine whether high tunnels can conserve natural resources and increase availability of locally grown foods.
